IB Middle Years Program at a Glance

The IB Middle Years Program (MYP), provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and become critical and reflective thinkers.

The Middle Years Program:
  • encourages international-mindedness in IB students, starting with a foundation in their own language and culture
  • encourages a positive attitude towards learning by challenging students to solve problems, show creativity and resourcefulness, and participate actively in their communities
  • reflects real life by providing a framework that allows students to see the connections among the subjects themselves, and between the subjects and real issues
  • supports the development of communication skills to encourage inquiry, understanding, language acquisition, and to allow student reflection and expression
  • emphazises, through the learner profile, the development of the whole student - physically, intellectually, emotionally, and ethically

The MYP Learner Profile

The aim of the IB program is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. IB learners strive to be:

Inquirers
Knowledgeable
Thinkers
Communicators
Principled
Open-Minded
Caring
Risk-takers
Balanced
Reflective

Snack

As a class, we developed a list of snacks that we felt were appropriate to munch on throughout the day. Snack is not necessary but we felt it was appropriate to discuss for those families that wish to  pack one for their child. We developed a list of things that are fresh, healthy, and keep us energized throughout our rigorous day! Thank you for your support. Check out the extensive list below:
  • Fruit
  • Veggies
  • Trail mix (minus peanuts due to peanut allergies)
  • Granola bars
  • Cereal
  • Cheese sticks
  • Pretzels
  • Crackers
